Investor and entrepreneur Gil Horsky recently participated in a panel at the prestigious DLD Conference in Munich. An article published on the Srugim website, which reviewed the panel, highlighted his key insights. Among other topics, Horsky addressed the impact of new weight-loss drugs (such as Ozempic) on the traditional food industry. While many perceive these drugs as a threat to food companies, Horsky offers an optimistic and surprising perspective.

“The food industry has the potential to influence disease prevention,” he asserts firmly. Horsky explains that the scientific breakthrough of weight-loss drugs has effectively “cracked the code” of hunger and satiety mechanisms. Now, the food industry can leverage this knowledge to develop products that help people manage their weight in a more natural and healthy way. He elaborated on how the ventures he leads, such as the company Lembas, are harnessing this science to bring the promise of weight management into every home.

He further notes that food companies are currently in a technological “arms race” to integrate nutritional and clinical values into their products. “This is an opportunity for a paradigm shift,” says Horsky, emphasizing that the goal is to transform food into a solution rather than a problem. He concludes by clarifying that the synergy between advanced science and global manufacturing capabilities is what will allow us to feed a growing world in a sustainable and healthy manner, while maintaining a high quality of life for all.
